A developer has created a free World of Warcraft clone called World of Claudecraft using Anthropic’s AI model, Claude Fable 5. The game is playable in browsers or can be self-hosted, with its source code and a guide now available on GitHub for public contributions. The project took just two days to complete. It consumed 91% of the developer’s monthly allowance under Anthropic’s Max-20x subscription plan. Despite the rapid development, the game includes nine classes, three zones, and a 90-objective questline, along with 10-player raids.

World of Warcraft has dominated the MMORPG scene since its 2004 release. Blizzard’s title still attracts millions of players monthly and receives constant updates from a large development team. By contrast, World of Claudecraft’s visuals and performance do not match the polish of major competitors. The developer has released World of Claudecraft for free, encouraging others to build on the open-source code. While the game offers a basic MMORPG experience, it remains far less refined than long-standing titles like World of Warcraft.
