Toyota recalls 12,000 SUVs in China over software defect risks

Toyota is recalling more than 9,000 Land Cruiser 250 SUVs in China due to a software fault. The issue was confirmed by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. A further 2,945 imported Lexus GX500h SUVs are also affected by the same problem. The recall targets Land Cruiser 250 models made between 16 July 2024 and 27 September 2025. It also includes Lexus GX500h vehicles assembled from 28 February 2024 to 26 December 2025.

The software glitch can prevent instrument panel data from appearing when the engine starts. This fault may create operational risks for drivers. A free software update at authorised service centres will restore full functionality to the instrument cluster. Owners of the affected vehicles will receive the update without charge. The fix is designed to ensure all instrument data displays correctly. The recall aims to eliminate the risk linked to the software defect.
