Nelkan fights back after devastating floods submerge homes and infrastructure

Nelkan is recovering after severe flooding hit the area this year. The Chuya and Maya rivers burst their banks, causing widespread damage. Recovery efforts are now in full swing across the town. The floodwaters submerged two residential buildings and 17 household plots. A bridge over the Chuya River and around 280 metres of sidewalks were also damaged. Sidewalk restoration has since begun, and repairs on the bridge are nearly finished.

Residents of the affected homes have already received 15,675 rubles in financial aid. Further compensation for damages will be provided to those affected. Garden plots suffered little harm, as crops had not yet been planted.

Flooding on this scale was last seen in Nelkan in 2009. The town is gradually restoring its infrastructure after the disaster. Financial support has been provided to affected residents. Repair work on key structures is set to conclude soon.
