Modi showcases India's leap in space, defence with new tech milestones

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted India’s growing achievements in space and defence. He recently inaugurated key facilities and praised a team of young innovators from Pune for their experimental drone flight in Mars-like conditions. During a visit to Hyderabad, the prime minister virtually opened Safran Aircraft Engine Services’ new MRO facility. This site is the world’s largest for Leap Engine maintenance and marks the first time a global engine manufacturer has established such operations in India.

He also inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s Infinity Campus. There, he unveiled the company’s first orbital rocket, Vikram-I, capable of launching satellites into orbit. Modi described the campus as a major boost for India’s space ecosystem.

In a separate event, he inducted INS Mahe into the Indian Navy. While addressing the nation, he recalled the challenges faced by Chandrayaan when it lost network coverage and praised the later success of Chandrayaan-3.

Modi also commended a group of young people from Pune. Their drone successfully flew for a short time in conditions resembling those on Mars after multiple attempts. The prime minister’s recent engagements underline advancements in India’s space and defence sectors. The new MRO facility, orbital rocket, and naval induction mark significant steps in technology and infrastructure. The young team’s drone experiment adds to the country’s growing reputation in innovation.
