Russian Fraudster Sentenced to Seven Years for $60,000 Car Scam

A court in Primorsky Krai has convicted a repeat offender for running a car fraud scheme. The man tricked vehicle owners and resold their cars without permission. He defrauded three victims of over 5.3 million rubles in total. The fraudster rented vehicles from their owners under false pretences. He then sold the cars to third parties without the owners’ knowledge or consent. Over a year and a half, he stole more than 5.3 million rubles, equivalent to around $60,000.

The court found him guilty and handed down a severe penalty. His sentence includes seven years in a maximum-security penal colony. After his release, he will face an additional two years of restricted freedom. All stolen vehicles were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
