Lake Balkhash's shores transform into a vibrant tourist hub with new beaches

The shores of Lake Balkhash near Lepsy village are undergoing a major transformation into a tourist destination. Three new public beaches, each designed for different age groups, are being created to attract visitors and support the local economy. A 137-kilometre highway leading to the lake has been fully reconstructed. This improves access for tourists travelling to the area. Along the shoreline, a new 9.3-kilometre asphalt road has also been completed.

Lepsy village now has direct utility connections to the lake. These include water supply networks, power lines, and sewage systems. The infrastructure upgrades will support the growing number of visitors.

The resort zone will follow an approved architectural concept to prevent unplanned development. Three distinct beaches are part of the project. Beach No. 1, aimed at younger visitors, will cover nearly seven hectares and hold over 3,000 people at once. Beach No. 2 is designed for families, featuring shallow waters, faster-warming temperatures, and a child-friendly lakebed. Beach No. 3 will provide a peaceful setting for older visitors. The project is expected to increase annual tourist numbers and strengthen the regional economy. The new beaches, improved roads, and upgraded utilities will make the area more appealing to a wide range of visitors.
