Anthropic's Claude Tag transforms Slack into an AI-powered team hub

Anthropic has unveiled Claude Tag, a new tool that embeds its AI assistant directly into Slack as a shared team member. The product is now in beta for Enterprise and Team plan users. It builds on earlier integrations, including Claude Code, which launched in Slack last December for coding support. Anthropic first introduced its Claude in Slack app in October 2025. This was followed by Claude Code in December, letting developers tag the AI in conversations for coding help. Now, Claude Tag gives the assistant its own identity in the workspace, with dedicated accounts for connected tools.

The new system allows one Claude per channel, shared by all members for real-time collaboration. It accumulates knowledge over time, works asynchronously, and can take action without prompts. Meanwhile, other AI firms have also focused on Slack integrations. GitHub brought Copilot into Microsoft Teams, while Codex added a native Slack feature for task delegation. Cognition’s Devin was designed with Slack at its core from the start. Block, too, has developed an agent orchestration system using its open-source Goose framework, managed entirely from a single Slack thread. Claude Tag is currently available in beta for select customers. It aims to streamline teamwork by acting as a persistent, autonomous assistant within Slack. The tool’s ability to retain knowledge and operate independently may change how teams collaborate on tasks.
