Ukraine tests robotic mine clearance in landmark defense exercise

A recent exercise in Ukraine showcased advanced robotic technologies for mine clearance. The event involved cooperation between KNDS France and Ukrainian Unmanned Technologies (UUT). Observers included Ukrainian officials and international partners. The 47th Separate Engineering Brigade led the operation at the Ukrainian Training Testing Complex. Specialised equipment, such as the ScanJack 3500 heavy demining vehicle and the GCS-200 unmanned platform, was deployed during the exercise. These tools tested new humanitarian and mechanised mine clearance methods.

Ukrainian military specialists successfully incorporated high-tech robotic systems into demining tasks. The exercise also demonstrated the functionality of a KNDS Robotics kit integrated onto the Ukrainian RAVLYK platform. Both companies aim to advance industrial production of ground drones for European armies.

The operation confirmed the capabilities of heavy robotic platforms under professional engineering control. These technologies are now being adopted into standard security frameworks for land reclamation efforts. The exercise highlighted the growing role of robotics in demining operations. It also strengthened ties between KNDS and UUT for future defence projects. The tested systems are expected to support safer and more efficient mine clearance in conflict zones.
