Boy, 11, escapes kidnappers after brutal abduction in Artyom

An 11-year-old boy was kidnapped in Artyom on 24 June 2026. Three local residents, including two minors, have been detained in connection with the crime. The case has been classified as kidnapping committed by a group of persons. The suspects attacked the boy near a house on Lenin Street in Artyom. They forced him into a vehicle and drove him to an outbuilding in the settlement of Zavodskoy. Once there, they tied him up with duct tape and left him alone.

The child managed to free himself and escape. Investigators have since opened a criminal case under parts 'a', 'g', and 'd' of Article 126(2) of the Russian Criminal Code. All three suspects are now in custody under Article 91 of Russia’s Code of Criminal Procedure.

Operational support has been provided by officers from the Primorsky Territory branch of Russia’s Interior Ministry. Authorities are still working to establish all details of the incident. They are also deciding whether to place the suspects in pretrial detention. The investigation remains active. The three suspects face serious charges for their roles in the kidnapping. Officials continue to gather evidence to determine the full circumstances of the case.
