Germany's Open House event invites public to meet Chancellor Merz

The German federal government will open its doors to the public this weekend for its annual Open House event. Visitors will have the chance to explore behind the scenes and speak directly with senior officials, including Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The event begins on Saturday with a press conference led by chief government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius. Unlike the usual briefings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, this session will focus on questions from children and young people.

On Sunday, Chancellor Merz will host a discussion at the government headquarters. Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD), Labour Minister Bärbel Bas (SPD), Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU), and other Cabinet members will also take part in panels and meet with citizens. Many ministers will join discussion sessions at different locations throughout the day.
