Omsk Oblast has recorded the highest rate of viral hepatitis in Russia for 2025. The region reported 2,143 chronic cases, far above the national average. This places it at the top of a growing list of areas with elevated infection levels. In 2025, Omsk Oblast saw 2,143 chronic viral hepatitis cases, equal to 118.27 per 100,000 people. Hepatitis C alone accounted for 1,819 cases, or 100.39 per 100,000. This marks a sharp rise from the previous three-year average of 44.22 per 100,000.

The region’s infection rate is now more than double Russia’s national average. It leads 35 other regions that also exceed the country’s typical figures. Kamchatka Krai, the Republic of Crimea, and St. Petersburg report similar trends, with rates roughly twice as high as most areas. Omsk Oblast’s hepatitis figures highlight a significant regional spike. The data confirms its position as the worst-affected area in Russia. Health officials now face a clear challenge in addressing the rising infection rates.
