Astana cracks down on illegal dumping with drone surveillance and fines

Astana’s Prosecutor’s Office has stepped up efforts to enforce urban cleanliness and legal compliance. Authorities recently caught two drivers using drones to illegally dump construction waste in the city’s Nura District. The move aligns with Kazakhstan’s broader push for environmental responsibility and order. In a single day, over 170 individuals were held administratively liable for offences such as polluting public spaces, violating urban maintenance rules, and setting up illegal dumping sites. The two drivers in Nura District now face penalties, including fines and the removal of their vehicle licence plates until payments are made.

The Prosecutor’s Office has stressed the importance of following legal requirements to protect the environment. Violations, such as damaging infrastructure or polluting public areas, break Kazakh law and result in administrative consequences. Preventive measures are ongoing to stop further breaches. The crackdown aims to reinforce the principles of Law and Order and the Clean Kazakhstan programme. Fines and other penalties serve as a deterrent to maintain the city’s cleanliness and ensure a comfortable urban environment.
