Kazakhstan reclaims $2B in land after uncovering misuse and neglect

Authorities in Kazakhstan have reclaimed significant tracts of land for state ownership. The moves follow inspections that uncovered misuse and idle plots in multiple regions. The total value of the restored land exceeds 2 billion tenge. In Akmola Region, forestry land worth 1.8 billion tenge was returned to state control. The action came after prosecutorial reviews identified irregularities in its management.

In Alakol District, officials recovered 1,300 hectares of agricultural land. The plots, valued at over 237 million tenge, had remained unused and were misallocated. Separately, another 230 million tenge worth of idle land in Jetisu Region was also restored to the state. The reclaimed land now falls back under government administration. The recovered areas include both forestry and agricultural plots. These measures aim to ensure proper use of state resources.
