Russia's EMERCOM hosts large-scale search-and-rescue volunteer training

A major training event for search-and-rescue volunteers will run in the Nizhny Novgorod Region from 12 to 19 June. The gathering has backing from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM). Teams from across Russia and abroad will take part in the exercises. The programme is designed to improve skills in locating missing persons and adopt new technologies. It also seeks to boost cooperation between regions. Volunteers will train in orienteering, topographic fundamentals, wilderness survival, first aid, and the use of modern communication and reconnaissance tools.

Eight participants from Khabarovsk, Solnechny District, and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast will join the event. All volunteers are part of the Liga Spas (Rescue League) team. The week-long training will end with a two-day field exercise. The event will bring together search-and-rescue teams from various areas. It aims to enhance practical skills and foster stronger coordination. The training concludes with hands-on field work on 18 and 19 June.
