Yakutsk's Borisov-1 left without gas and hot water amid equipment failures

Residents in Yakutsk’s Borisov-1 neighbourhood are currently facing widespread gas and hot water shutoffs. Officials have attributed the outages to faults in the local gas equipment. The affected systems were installed in 2009 and are not considered outdated. A housing and utilities commission will begin inspecting boiler rooms in Borisov-1 from Wednesday. Their task is to assess the condition of the equipment in each facility. Technicians from UGRS and the Housing and Utilities Department will examine every boiler individually and prepare detailed reports on their findings.

Local resident Anna Novokokova has raised concerns about the situation. She warns that the lack of hot water could increase the risk of fires in the area. Novokokova also expects the gas supply issues to persist until the start of the heating season. She believes restoring services will take considerable time unless an emergency response is triggered.

Aleksandr Severyanov, a deputy in Yakutsk’s City Duma, has already taken action. He met with Vladislav Sleptsov, the deputy head of the city administration, to discuss the ongoing problems and potential solutions. Inspections will determine the exact condition of the gas equipment. Reports from the technicians will guide the next steps for repairs or replacements. Residents will have to wait until the assessments are complete before services can be restored.
