Russian Citizen Sentenced to 8.5 Years for Attempted FSB Bribery in Magadan

A Russian citizen born in 1983 has been detained in Magadan for attempting to bribe an FSB officer. The man was arrested while handing over money to an undercover agent. He now faces serious charges related to large-scale bribery. The detainee was charged under Part 4(b) of Article 291 and Part 1 of Article 30, Part 5 of Article 291 of Russia’s Criminal Code. These charges include bribery on a large scale and preparation to bribe an official on an especially large scale. Authorities stated the bribe was meant to secure cooperation in the illegal transfer of gold-bearing ore.

The Khasynsky District Court of the Magadan Region delivered its verdict recently. The defendant received a sentence of eight years and six months in a high-security penal colony. However, the verdict has not yet entered into legal force. The court’s decision marks the end of the trial for the accused. The sentence remains subject to appeal before it becomes final.
