Amursk tightens electric scooter rules to boost pedestrian safety

Amursk has announced new rules for electric scooters to improve safety in busy areas. The city will introduce speed limits, no-ride zones, and adjusted parking spots after a recent working meeting at the local administration. The restrictions will set a maximum speed of 6 km/h in the city park and along the embankment. In other areas, such as Komsomolsky Prospect, near the Registry Office (ZAGS) building, the children’s clinic, and the Alley of Glory, scooters will be limited to 15 km/h.

No-ride zones have also been designated. These include the Eternal Flame memorial complex, A.P. Gaidar Children’s Park, and Lenin Square. Additionally, scooter parking areas will be reorganised across the city. The city plans to run preventive measures and educational campaigns to promote scooter safety, particularly among students. Similar 'slow zones' were previously introduced in Khabarovsk, where strict speed limits were enforced in small squares and parking areas.

The new regulations aim to reduce risks in high-traffic and sensitive locations. Scooter riders will need to follow the updated speed limits and avoid restricted areas. The changes will take effect following further public announcements.
