Armenia expands diplomatic ties with Latin America ahead of 2026 Yerevan Dialogue

Armenia is strengthening its diplomatic ties with Latin America, with a particular focus on Mexico. The two nations have maintained formal relations since 1992, supported by long-standing connections through migrant communities. Now, Armenia is looking to deepen these bonds further through high-level engagement and international forums. The 2026 Yerevan Dialogue, scheduled for May 5–6 in Yerevan, will bring together global leaders under the theme Navigating the Storms. Key discussions will cover peace and regional security, digital transformation, international cooperation, and democratic resilience. Armenian officials see this event as an opportunity to expand partnerships beyond traditional allies.

Armenia’s Foreign Minister, Ararat Mirzoyan, stressed the need for open dialogue in an unpredictable international climate. The country has also considered inviting senior figures from Latin America, including Mexico, to future editions of the forum. This move aligns with Armenia’s broader strategy to diversify its foreign relations. The push for stronger ties comes as Armenia sustains steady economic growth, averaging nearly 6% annually in recent years. French President Emmanuel Macron recently noted Armenia’s political transformation and its growing influence on the world stage.
