Bitcoin crashes below $70K as crypto market bleeds for four straight months

Bitcoin's price has fallen sharply, dragging down investor confidence across the cryptocurrency market. On Thursday, the digital asset, bitcoin price, dropped below $70,000 for the first time since late 2024, marking a four-month losing streak—the longest since 2018. The decline has also hit other major coins, with Ethereum and Solana suffering even steeper losses in recent weeks.

Bitcoin's value plunged to around $63,000 on Thursday, wiping out roughly 13 percent of its worth in a single day. Against the Swiss franc, it slipped from about 56,000 francs to under 50,000 francs. This extended a prolonged slump that has seen the cryptocurrency, btc price, lose ground for four straight months.

Ethereum and Solana have fared worse than Bitcoin over the past four months. From October 2025 to February 2026, Ethereum fell from peaks above $2,900 in December 2025 to between $2,250 and $2,535. Solana, meanwhile, crashed from a high near $254 to around $82—a drop of over 73 percent. Weekly losses for both averaged about 25 percent, compared to Bitcoin's 15 percent decline by mid-February 2026.

The extended downturn has left investors facing significant losses. Market sentiment remains weak as Bitcoin struggles to recover from its longest losing run in years.

The cryptocurrency market continues to face heavy pressure, with Bitcoin's drop below $70,000 signalling broader weakness. Ethereum and Solana have seen even sharper declines, deepening losses for holders. The prolonged slump marks the worst performance for Bitcoin since 2018, with no immediate signs of recovery.
