Bitcoin stabilizes near $70K after a brutal 45% crash from record highs
Bitcoin has shown signs of stabilising near the $70,000 mark after a sharp 45% decline from its peak. The cryptocurrency's recent recovery follows months of volatility, with reduced selling pressure and improved liquidity. Goldman Sachs analysts now suggest that crypto-related stocks could offer attractive opportunities under current conditions. Bitcoin's price journey since early 2024 has been turbulent. After hitting an all-time high of over $93,000 by the end of 2024, it surged further to $126,199 in October 2025. However, a steep correction followed, dragging the price down by roughly 44% to around $70,500 by late March 2026. A notable drop in February 2026—from $75,689 to $62,829—was triggered by tariff-related market jitters, but support levels between $60,000 and $70,000 helped stabilise the asset.
Several factors have contributed to the recent calming of the market. US Spot Bitcoin ETFs, strong institutional demand from firms like MicroStrategy, and the reduced supply following the 2024 Halving have all played a role. While macroeconomic risks, including tight Federal Reserve policies and trade tariffs, initially caused sell-offs, liquidity conditions have since improved. Forced selling activity has decreased across major exchanges and derivatives platforms, though the recovery remains uneven in some trading areas.
Goldman Sachs has highlighted crypto-related equities as potentially appealing investments in the current climate. Despite mixed flows in Bitcoin ETFs, the bank's analysts believe the worst of the downturn may have passed. Meanwhile, CEO David Solomon revealed in a recent statement that his personal exposure to Bitcoin remains 'very, very limited.' Bitcoin's price appears to have found a temporary floor around $70,000 after months of decline. With liquidity improving and institutional interest holding steady, the market shows cautious signs of recovery. Analysts continue to monitor whether this stabilisation will hold amid lingering macroeconomic uncertainties.
