Bittensor's AI Network Explodes as TAO Token Nearly Doubles in March

Bittensor's decentralised AI network has seen explosive growth in March. The platform's native token, TAO, surged by nearly 90%, climbing from around $180 to over $332. At the same time, the combined valuation of its subnet tokens approached $1.5 billion, with trading volumes exceeding $118 million in a single month. Several subnets within Bittensor have driven this expansion, each targeting different AI and blockchain applications. Chutes, a leading subnet, has processed over 9.1 trillion tokens and attracted more than 400,000 users. It recently became the first Bittensor subnet to surpass a $100 million valuation.

Templar made headlines by training the largest decentralised large language model (LLM) to date. The model boasts 72 billion parameters and was trained on 1.1 trillion tokens, showcasing the subnet's capacity for high-scale AI development. Elsewhere, Targon reported projected annual revenue of $10.4 million after securing $10.5 million in Series A funding. The subnet now supports over 4 million users. Hippius, another key player, functions as a blockchain-backed storage solution similar to AWS S3. It has generated $4.48 million in profit and loss (PnL), providing persistent storage for decentralised applications. NOVA focuses on drug molecule discovery, tapping into the $1.5 trillion pharmaceutical market. These subnets, along with others, operate using dTAO, Bittensor's decentralised token system. Since its launch in 2025, subnet valuations have fluctuated sharply, with some gaining significantly while others faced declines as competition among validators intensified. The rapid adoption of these subnets highlights their real-world utility. They now cover a broad range of functions, from AI training and data storage to financial trading and pharmaceutical research.

Bittensor's ecosystem continues to expand, with subnets like Chutes, Templar, and Targon leading the charge. The network's token, TAO, has reflected this growth, nearly doubling in value over a single month. As decentralised AI applications gain traction, the platform's infrastructure is increasingly supporting large-scale, real-world use cases.
