Blue Mountains Hosts Intensive Wilderness Medicine Course in 2026

A four-day Expedition & Wilderness Medicine Course will run in the Blue Mountains from 19th to 22nd October 2026. Designed for healthcare professionals and students, the programme prepares participants for medical challenges in remote environments. No prior wilderness medicine experience is needed. The course focuses on practical, outdoor training with real-life scenarios. Topics include clinical decision-making, trauma management, environmental hazards, public health, and search & rescue operations. The final day features a high-pressure simulation where participants apply their skills in a realistic rescue mission.

Accommodation and meals are covered in the AUD $2,739 fee, with stays at StayKCC in Katoomba. A $400 deposit option is available, and attendees are advised to arrive the day before. The course also offers 26.25 hours of CPD, accredited by the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

Located just two hours from Sydney by train, the Blue Mountains provide an accessible yet rugged setting. Before and during the event, participants will join a WhatsApp group to connect with instructors and fellow attendees. The course equips medical professionals with hands-on skills for remote and wilderness settings. Successful completion grants CPD credits and practical experience in emergency scenarios. Registration remains open until the October 2026 start date.
