BMW Bank Strengthens Leadership with New Executive Board Appointment for 2026

BMW Bank has expanded its leadership team with a new appointment to its executive board. Effective January 1, 2026, Stephan Cohnen will join the management board after receiving approval from the supervisory board. The move comes as the bank continues to strengthen its position in the automotive financial sector.

Stephan Cohnen brings extensive experience to his new role. A business administration graduate, he started his career as an IT and transformation consultant. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions within BMW Financial Services across Germany, the UK, and Belgium.

Most recently, Cohnen led the customer service, processes, and IT division at BMW Bank. His focus has been on modernising operations and driving digital transformation. The bank, which serves around one million private and corporate customers, operates not only in Germany but also in Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

BMW Bank is recognised as one of Germany's leading automotive banks. It offers a wide range of financial services, including financing, leasing, insurance, deposit products, and credit cards. Cohnen's appointment aligns with the bank's goal of becoming a more modern and digital financial services provider.

With Cohnen's appointment, BMW Bank takes another step in its strategic development. His background in IT and leadership across multiple markets is expected to support the bank's digital ambitions. The expanded executive board will now guide the institution as it serves its growing customer base.
