Oranienburg (dpa/bb) – Some 210 young people from multiple German states have begun their training and degree programs at the Brandenburg Police Academy in Oranienburg to prepare for careers in law enforcement. Brandenburg's Interior Minister Jan Redmann (CDU) marked the occasion by highlighting the police's vital role in upholding a stable democracy. New recruits are typically appointed in April and October each year.

"Our police officers work tirelessly to safeguard public safety and order in Brandenburg. They bear immense responsibility, often serve as role models in society, and stand as protectors for those in need," Redmann stated. "This demands conviction, a clear moral compass—and above all, it is never done alone. Policing is always a team effort."

Recruits from Six Federal States

A total of 73 trainees and 137 students received their appointment certificates as new recruits for the police force, according to the Interior Ministry. The group hails from six federal states, with 177 coming from Brandenburg itself.

The Police Academy has recently expanded its capacity for new recruits. In March, a new apartment building opened on the Oranienburg campus, providing housing for up to 400 police trainees.
