Broadridge's ProxyVote upgrade transforms shareholder voting for Vanguard investors

Broadridge Financial Solutions has upgraded its ProxyVote platform to improve Pass-Through Voting for investors. The new feature will make it easier for shareholders to take part in proxy voting, especially those holding Vanguard funds on third-party platforms. Vanguard will be the first asset manager to use this capability as part of its Vanguard Investor Choice programme.

The enhancement allows eligible investors to review and choose their preferred voting policy right after completing their proxy ballot. This streamlined process means tens of millions of individual investors can now select or update their voting preferences within the same ProxyVote workflow.

Broadridge's solution is already available to shareholders in over 600 funds, representing more than $8 trillion in assets. The upgrade aims to help the broader asset management industry implement and expand Pass-Through Voting programmes more efficiently. Vanguard's adoption of the new capability marks a key development in increasing shareholder participation. While no other major asset managers have launched similar programmes as of March 4, 2026, more firms are expected to follow after the upcoming proxy season.

The new Pass-Through Voting feature simplifies the process for investors using third-party brokerage platforms. With Vanguard leading the way, the enhancement is set to encourage wider adoption across the asset management industry. More firms are likely to integrate the capability in the coming months.
