Delta Air Lines has placed an order for 34 more Airbus A321neo aircraft, expanding its fleet of this model to 189. The latest purchase follows two other major aircraft deals this year, reinforcing the airline's growth plans.

The new order builds on Delta's existing fleet of 92 Airbus A321neo jets. The first of these flights arrived in spring 2022, with the number rising to 87 by the end of 2025 and five more added in early 2026. All 34 of the newly ordered planes will use Pratt & Whitney's geared turbofan engines.

Deliveries for this latest batch are set to start in 2029. Maintenance for the engines will be partly handled by Delta TechOps, the airline's in-house maintenance division. This team has been part of Pratt & Whitney's GTF maintenance network since 2019 and operates a dedicated facility at Delta's Atlanta hub.

Earlier this year, Delta also secured orders for wide-body aircraft, including Boeing 787s, Airbus A330-900s, and Airbus A350-900s. The latest A321neo deal marks the carrier's third major flights purchase in 2026 alone.

With this order, Delta's total A321neo commitments now stand at 189 aircraft. The new jets will join the fleet from 2029, supported by in-house engine maintenance. The move further strengthens the airline's position as it continues expanding its operations.
