Dortmund police crack down on illegal racing, drugs and public disturbances

Police in Dortmund faced a busy weekend as officers dealt with a range of incidents across the city. From illegal street racing to drug trafficking and public disturbances, multiple operations kept authorities on high alert. Enhanced patrols were in place to maintain order and safety.

On Wall Street, around 120 to 150 vehicles gathered for cruising, posing, and street racing. Officers monitored the scene closely to prevent dangerous behaviour and traffic violations.

In separate operations, police recorded eight cases of illegal drug trafficking. The incidents occurred in Nordmarkt, Dietrich-Keuning-Park, and the city centre. During these operations, crack cocaine and several hundred euros in cash were seized. A man causing a disturbance on Hansastraße near Bissenkamp was found carrying an extendable baton. Officers treated him at the scene before releasing him. Meanwhile, another individual was detained on Alter Burgwall after ignoring an exclusion order and taken into custody. At a bar on Brückstraße, a patron was caught performing the Hitler salute. An exclusion order was issued, and a criminal complaint was filed against him. Elsewhere, a domestic dispute between a couple escalated when the woman provided false names and resisted officers. She now faces reports for resistance and insulting behaviour. Traffic stops revealed multiple violations, including drivers operating vehicles without insurance and under the influence of drugs. Two arrest warrants were also executed during routine identity checks. The FOKUS high-visibility policing unit remained active throughout the weekend, reinforcing safety and maintaining a strong presence in key areas.

Authorities seized drugs, cash, and detained several individuals over the weekend. Enhanced patrols will continue as police work to prevent further incidents. The operations highlight ongoing efforts to address public disorder and illegal activity in the city.
