Ebeling Logistik Deploys First Electric Heavy-Duty Truck for Zero-Emission Freight
Ebeling Logistik, a Wedemark-based logistics firm, has introduced its first fully electric heavy-duty truck to the fleet. The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 began daily operations in December 2025, running between Hanover and Dortmund. This move aligns with the company's push to cut CO₂ emissions and modernise its transport network.
The electric truck, a Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, boasts a range of around 500 kilometres and a peak output of 600 kilowatts. It now serves the regular route connecting Hanover and Dortmund, marking a shift toward zero-emission freight transport.
To support the vehicle, Ebeling Logistik installed two high-power charging stations at its depot. Supplied by Alpitronic, these units deliver 400 kilowatts and 200 kilowatts respectively. The charging infrastructure was developed alongside energy provider enercity.
A large photovoltaic system covers roughly 15,300 square metres of rooftop space at the depot. With a total capacity of two megawatts peak (MWp), it supplies part of the electricity needed for the charging stations. Future plans include adding an energy management system and a battery storage unit to further optimise power use.
The company also intends to make the depot's charging infrastructure available to the public in the long term. This step reflects broader industry growth, as Germany saw a 37.9% increase in new heavy-duty electric truck registrations in 2025, reaching 1,398 vehicles.
The introduction of the eActros 600 represents a key milestone in Ebeling Logistik's sustainability efforts. With expanded charging capacity and solar power integration, the depot is now equipped for future fleet electrification. The company continues to explore ways to reduce emissions while maintaining efficient logistics operations.
