Elderly Man Feared Drowned After Falling Into Drainage Ditch Near Home

An 83-year-old man is feared drowned after reportedly falling into a drainage ditch near his home in Kampung Padang Tengah, Tikam Batu. Emergency services were alerted early on the morning of the incident and have since launched a search-and-rescue operation.

The victim, identified as Mohamad Khalid @ Halim Salleh, was last seen near his residence. An emergency call was made at 8.55 am, prompting a swift response from local authorities. Firefighters and rescue officers from the Tikam Batu Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene shortly after.

The ditch where the man is believed to have fallen is roughly 30 metres from his house. Dive teams entered the water at 10.44 am to search the area. The operation has since expanded, with the Water Rescue Team and the Royal Malaysia Police K9 unit joining the efforts. Searches are now underway along the riverbank as authorities work to locate the missing man. The operation remains active, with multiple agencies coordinating their efforts.

The search for Mohamad Khalid @ Halim Salleh continues, with teams focusing on the drainage ditch and surrounding riverbank. Authorities have not yet confirmed the circumstances of the incident but are treating it as a suspected drowning.
