An 11-year-old Labrador Retriever was pulled to safety after becoming trapped in thick mud near a lake in Stuttgart. The dog had wandered into a boggy area and was unable to escape without help.

Walkers first spotted the distressed animal when they heard her barking. Realising she was stuck, they immediately called emergency services for assistance.

Ten firefighters responded to the scene, including two water rescue specialists. The team waded through deep mire to reach the exhausted dog, who was in a life-threatening situation. To stabilise the rescue, they used sections of an extension ladder to safely access the trapped animal.

After freeing the Labrador Retriever, rescuers gave her water before returning her to her owner's care. Such operations in Germany typically take one to four hours, depending on mud depth, the dog's size, weather conditions, and the availability of specialised equipment.

The dog was safely reunited with her owner after the successful rescue. Emergency crews confirmed she suffered no serious injuries from the ordeal. Authorities reminded pet owners to keep animals on leads near unstable or waterlogged ground.
