A new treatment for severe aortic regurgitation is now available at Braunschweig Municipal Hospital. The clinic has introduced the JenaValve Trilogy, a catheter-based therapy designed specifically for this condition. Until recently, many high-risk patients had few reliable options for managing their condition.

The Heart Center of the Central Clinic in Bad Berka has also begun offering this procedure. With only ten clinics across Germany currently providing it, the therapy remains rare but promising.

The JenaValve Trilogy uses a unique clip-and-anchor mechanism to secure the heart valve prosthesis. This design allows stable positioning even in patients without significant calcification of the native valve. Previously, such cases often lacked effective catheter-based solutions.

This week, three patients at Braunschweig Municipal Hospital underwent the minimally invasive procedure. Dr. Ingo Breitenbach, a senior physician, described the new method as a gentler alternative for those who once had limited treatment choices. Professor Dr. Tibor Kempf, the chief physician, added that the procedure fills a critical gap in care and expands the hospital's treatment capabilities.

The introduction of this therapy marks a step forward in addressing aortic insufficiency. Clinics like Bad Berka and Braunschweig are now among the few in Germany offering this specialised intervention.

The JenaValve Trilogy provides a new option for patients with severe aortic regurgitation. Its clip-and-anchor system improves stability, making it suitable for cases where other treatments fall short. With more clinics adopting the procedure, access to this therapy may gradually increase across the country.
