A two-day international summit on children's digital well-being will take place in Washington, D.C., on March 24-25. Organised by Melania Trump, the event brings together global leaders, experts, and policymakers to address challenges in education and online safety for young people. The initiative, titled Fostering the Future Together (FFT), will feature discussions, workshops, and the launch of a new global coalition.
The summit kicks off with a roundtable at the White House, where Melania Trump will host spouses of world leaders. Their focus will be on how first spouses can support children's development in an increasingly digital world. Later, a working session at the US Department of State will explore practical tools and innovative approaches to help young people navigate online spaces safely.
Georgia's delegation includes Tamar Bagrationi, Deputy Minister of Education Baia Kvitsiani, and Parliament's Education Committee Chairwoman Mariam Lashkhi. Their participation was confirmed by Mikheil Kavelashvili's press service. The event also marks the launch of a coalition aimed at advancing digital education, AI tools, and online safety—with Kosovo among the early contributors.
Melania Trump's involvement extends beyond this summit. She previously chaired a UN Security Council session on children, technology, and education in conflict zones. Her FFT initiative builds on these efforts, emphasising collaboration between governments, tech firms, and educators.
The summit will conclude with commitments to expand digital literacy and child protection measures worldwide. Attendees are expected to outline actionable steps for integrating technology into education while safeguarding young users. The coalition's next phases will be shaped by the discussions held during these two days.
