Google has acquired AppSheet, a Seattle-based platform that lets users build mobile apps without coding. The deal comes five years after the company was founded by Praveen Seshadri and Brian Sabino. Financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed. AppSheet launched in 2014 with a mission to simplify app development for non-programmers. By 2015, it had secured seed funding from New Enterprise Associates. The platform quickly gained traction, enabling over 18,000 creators to deploy around 200,000 apps.

Major brands like Whirlpool, Pepsi, and Toyota adopted the tool for their mobile needs. The company also earned recognition, winning awards from TiE in 2018 and Forrester Research in 2019. Its technology incorporated AI and natural language processing to speed up development.

Google now plans to integrate AppSheet's services into Google Cloud. The move aims to reshape how businesses build and deploy applications. Despite the change in ownership, AppSheet will keep supporting its existing customers. The acquisition expands Google's cloud offerings with a no-code solution. AppSheet's tools will remain available to current users while becoming part of Google's broader development ecosystem. The long-term impact on the app creation market is expected to grow as the integration progresses.
