GoSwap Secures Funding to Expand Electric Motorcycle Battery-Swapping in Morocco

Moroccan startup GoSwap has secured its first round of funding from the Azur Innovation Fund. The investment will help expand its automated battery-swapping network for electric motorcycles. The company aims to make electric mobility more accessible across North Africa. GoSwap specialises in quick battery exchanges for electric scooters. Its system replaces a drained battery with a fully charged one in under 10 seconds. Currently, 20 swap cabinets operate in Casablanca at CashPlus stores, Petrom, and Shell stations.

The funding will speed up the rollout of electric mobility in the region. It will also support the addition of new electric motorcycle models compatible with GoSwap's technology. The company plans to expand its network to Marrakech next, with further cities to follow. Hamza Slimani, GoSwap's founder, wants to cut costs and extend vehicle range for riders. Adnane Filali, managing partner at Azur Innovation Management, believes the solution holds strong potential for African cities.

The investment will allow GoSwap to grow its presence beyond Casablanca. More swap stations and compatible motorcycles are expected in the coming months. The expansion aims to boost electric transport options in Morocco and beyond.
