Two women in North Rhine-Westphalia have been officially recognised for saving the lives of two girls. Nadja Kolski and Caroline Bückemeier pulled the children from a pond at the Feierabendhaus Hotel in Marl. Their quick actions prevented a tragedy.

The incident took place when a five-year-old and a 14-year-old girl found themselves in danger in the water. Both were at risk of drowning and showed signs of hypothermia, though they stayed conscious. Kolski and Bückemeier spotted the emergency and acted immediately.

For their bravery, the two rescuers received a Public Commendation from the state. This award is given in North Rhine-Westphalia to honour those who perform life-saving acts. The ceremony acknowledged their decisive intervention in preventing serious harm.

The girls survived thanks to the swift response of Kolski and Bückemeier. Their actions earned them official recognition from the state. The Public Commendation highlights the importance of quick thinking in emergencies.
