Kazakhstani school leavers can now apply for bachelor’s degrees abroad using their national exam results. The change removes the need for a Foundation preparatory course in many cases. However, language requirements for English-taught programmes remain in place. The Unified National Test (UNT) has gained international recognition, allowing graduates to use their scores for direct entry into foreign universities. This shift confirms that Kazakhstan’s education assessment system aligns with global academic standards.
Universities will still determine their own admission criteria, including minimum UNT scores. Some may also require additional steps, such as entrance exams, interviews, or portfolio reviews. For programmes taught in English, proof of language proficiency will continue to be mandatory.
The new policy expands opportunities for students seeking higher education outside Kazakhstan. By eliminating the Foundation course requirement, it simplifies the application process for many bachelor’s degree programmes. The recognition of Kazakhstan’s national testing results opens more doors for students aiming to study abroad. While language and university-specific requirements still apply, the change reduces barriers to international education. Institutions will now assess applicants based on their UNT scores alongside any additional criteria they set.
