Kazakhstan's new recruits endure rigorous training in Aktobe's elite military unit

Military Unit No. 30238 in Aktobe has welcomed over 140 new recruits during the spring conscription drive. The soldiers now face a rigorous training programme designed to build discipline, teamwork and combat readiness.

Each day begins at 6 a.m. with a structured routine of morning exercises, inspection, breakfast, and training sessions. Recruits spend their first month in basic training before moving on to specialised roles based on their skills and preferences.

The unit focuses on preparing soldiers to operate confidently under any conditions. Training includes military regulations, drills, marksmanship, combat medicine, and tactical exercises. Soldiers also learn to handle heavy equipment like the D-20 howitzer and the Arlan armoured vehicle. Safety remains a priority, with mandatory briefings before every session and surveillance cameras monitoring the unit. Recruits can use phones and tablets for scheduled video calls, ensuring they stay connected with family. Olesya Starykh, a representative from the Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers, regularly visits to check on the soldiers’ health and living conditions. Contract service is also a key part of staffing, with terms ranging from three to five years and benefits such as preferential mortgage programmes.

The new recruits will complete their training before taking on full duties. The unit’s structured approach ensures they develop both technical skills and teamwork. Contract options and welfare checks further support their service experience.
