Khabarovsk Launches Free History Tours for Young Explorers This Summer

Free guided bus tours are now available for schoolchildren and young people in Khabarovsk Krai. The initiative, part of the We Are Together federal project, offers educational trips focused on Russian history and wartime achievements. Over 1,100 participants are expected by the end of September. The tour, named Khabarovsk—City of Military Glory, takes visitors to key memorial sites and the Khabarovsk Regional Museum named after N.I. Grodekov. Participants will explore the region’s role in defending Russia’s eastern borders and the contributions of Far Eastern residents to victory over fascism. All routes also highlight the area’s historical, cultural, and ethnographic uniqueness, aligning with 2026’s Year of National Unity in Russia.

This is the second year the programme has run, organised by the *Agency for Internal Tourism Development* with support from Russia’s Ministry of Education. Demand remains strong, with a third of the planned excursions already completed. The initiative has also received recognition from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The free tours will continue until late September, offering young residents a chance to engage with their region’s past. The programme aims to strengthen historical awareness while providing accessible educational experiences. Organisers expect full participation before the project concludes.
