Khabarovsk meat plant shut down over shocking hygiene violations

A recent inspection at a meat production plant in Khabarovsk uncovered serious breaches of food safety laws. Authorities found widespread violations, including unsanitary conditions and improper documentation. The case has now been referred to prosecutors for further action.

Inspectors visited the facility and quickly identified multiple problems. Rust, dirt, and debris covered processing equipment, while the blast freezer showed signs of black mould. The overall sanitary standards were deemed unsatisfactory.

Personal items and employees’ clothing were left in areas meant for raw materials and meat processing. This raised concerns about contamination risks. The plant also failed to maintain proper storage and production conditions for animal-based products. Further checks revealed issues with veterinary paperwork. Required accompanying documents were either incomplete or incorrectly prepared. Providing false details about raw materials is strictly prohibited under current regulations. The violations break both the Technical Regulations on Food Safety and the Federal Law on the Quality and Safety of Food Products. All inspection findings have been sent to the Krasnoflotsky District Prosecutor’s Office in Khabarovsk for enforcement measures.

The plant now faces potential legal consequences after the inspection exposed repeated failures in hygiene and record-keeping. Prosecutors will determine the next steps based on the documented breaches of food safety laws. The outcome could include fines or stricter oversight of the facility’s operations.
