Krasnodar Region cracks down on cyclists after three bike accidents in 24 hours
Krasnodar Region’s traffic police have reminded cyclists to follow road safety rules after three accidents involving bikes in the last 24 hours. Twelve injury-related crashes were recorded in the area during this period, raising concerns about compliance with traffic laws. Authorities highlighted key regulations to prevent further incidents. Cyclists must use bike lanes or cycle paths where they exist. If none are available, riders should stay close to the right edge of the road.
At night or in poor visibility, bicycles must display a white front light, a red rear light, and reflective elements. Signal use is mandatory before turning, stopping, or starting any manoeuvre. Children under 14 are banned from cycling on main roads, except in residential areas or designated zones.
Pedestrian crossings pose a particular risk. Cyclists must dismount and walk their bikes across zebra crossings to avoid collisions. Police stressed that ignoring these rules increases the likelihood of accidents. The recent crashes have prompted a fresh call for stricter adherence to cycling laws. Traffic officers in Krasnodar Region are urging all riders to review and follow the regulations. Proper lighting, signalling, and road positioning remain critical to reducing risks on shared routes.
