Krasnodar has endured an unusually cold and wet May in 2026. The month’s average temperature sits at just +15.7°C—2.1°C below the seasonal norm. Heavy rain and chilly conditions have made it the second-coldest May in the city this century, with more downpours expected before the month ends. Since the beginning of May, Krasnodar has recorded 161 mm of rain, nearly two and a half times the usual amount for the entire month. A single night on May 31 brought 31 mm alone, accounting for almost half the typical monthly total. These figures confirm May 2026 as the wettest in at least 50 years.

The persistent cold has also stood out. While Moscow’s average for May was +15.6°C, Krasnodar’s +15.7°C remains well below its own climatic norm. Only May 2022 was colder in the 21st century. Forecasters predict some relief in early June, with rain easing and temperatures gradually climbing. However, normal seasonal warmth is not expected until the second week of the month.

May 2026 will go down as one of Krasnodar’s coldest and wettest on record. The month’s extreme weather has disrupted usual patterns, with temperatures and rainfall far outside typical ranges. A return to more stable conditions is now anticipated in mid-June.
