Kuwait's Nazaha welcomes new leadership to combat corruption and financial crimes
Kuwait's Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has a new leadership team after His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah approved the latest appointments. The Minister of Justice, Nasser Al-Sumait, formally presented the board members during a meeting on Monday. The changes follow a recent Amiri decree outlining the authority's updated structure. The new board was sworn in under the decree, with Dr. Rana Al-Faris taking on the role of Chairperson. Dr. Majed Al-Deihani was named Deputy Chairperson, while Rania Al-Fulaij, Dr. Abdullah Al-Dabbous, and Dhay Al-Otaibi joined as board members.
Nazaha, established in 2016, focuses on combating corruption, investigating financial crimes, and recovering illicit assets. Over the past five years, it has prosecuted more than 1,000 cases and retrieved over $100 million in misappropriated funds. The authority also conducts audits across government sectors, runs public awareness campaigns, and operates digital platforms for reporting corruption. High-profile cases in 2022 and 2025 led to legal action against senior officials. The agency's work includes tackling bribery, embezzlement, and abuse of power while promoting transparency in public institutions.
The newly appointed board will now oversee Nazaha's ongoing efforts to strengthen anti-corruption measures. Their responsibilities include maintaining the authority's track record in asset recovery, investigations, and public accountability. The changes align with Kuwait's broader push to enhance governance and combat financial misconduct.
