Kuwait's top minister inspects border and coast guard security ahead of Eid

Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, recently inspected key security sites across the country. The visit included stops at the northern border posts, the Al-Abdali crossing, and the General Directorate of Coast Guard. During the tour, he delivered Eid al-Fitr greetings from top leadership to the personnel on duty.

Sheikh Talal began his tour at the Al-Abdali border crossing, where he reviewed security protocols in place. He urged forces to remain on high alert and commended their strict discipline and morale. The minister also shared Eid congratulations from Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, thanking the troops for their service.

At the General Directorate of Coast Guard, he assessed maritime security readiness. The visit highlighted Kuwait's efforts over the past five years to bolster coastal defences. Joint exercises like Eagle Resolve (2022 and 2024) have strengthened ties with US and GCC allies, focusing on naval patrols and intelligence sharing. Advanced surveillance tools, including drones and radar systems, have been adopted with US support to counter threats from Iran-backed groups and Houthi activity in the Gulf. Sheikh Talal later joined stationed forces for lunch, expressing gratitude for their sacrifices during the holiday. He called for decisive action against any threats to national security and stressed the need for closer coordination between all security and military branches. The tour underscored Kuwait's commitment to protecting its borders and maintaining stability.

The inspections come as Kuwait continues to enhance its security framework through international partnerships and modern technology. The minister's visit reinforced the importance of vigilance and unity among defence forces. Officials have reiterated that safeguarding the nation remains a top priority.
