Malaysia deploys cloud seeding and drones to fight severe drought

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered urgent action to tackle the hot and dry conditions in northern Malaysia. He has instructed the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) to ramp up cloud seeding efforts across the region. The move comes as Kedah and Perlis face worsening weather conditions. Anwar has specifically told the Meteorological Department to speed up cloud seeding in these critically affected states.

He has also asked the JBPM to maintain operations over the coming days. To improve efficiency, the Prime Minister suggested using drone technology to address logistical challenges in the process.

The intensified cloud seeding aims to relieve the dry spell in northern Peninsular Malaysia. Both the RMAF and JBPM will play key roles in carrying out the operations as directed.
