Mexico City reports slight debt reduction in 2025 financial review

Mexico City’s financial report for 2025 was presented to the local Congress on Thursday. The document outlines the capital’s debt levels and highlights a slight reduction in borrowing over the past year. The 2025 Public Accounts report confirms the city’s total debt stood at 107.263 billion pesos by the end of the year. This figure reflects a real decrease of 0.6% compared to the balance recorded at the close of 2024.

The submission to Congress marks the formal review of the city’s financial performance. Officials will now examine the data before approving or commenting on the results.

The debt reduction, though modest, represents a shift from the previous year’s figures. The report will guide future budget decisions as the city assesses its financial strategy moving forward.
