Mexico's 2025–2026 school year to end early on June 5

State education officials will gather on May 11 to discuss the 2025–2026 school calendar. Mario Delgado, a key figure in the Education Ministry (SEP), confirmed the meeting’s purpose is to finalise proposed changes. The session follows an announcement that the next school year will conclude earlier than usual, on June 5. Delgado made the announcement while in Sonora with President Claudia Sheinbaum. His statement highlighted the need to review and confirm adjustments to the academic schedule.

The proposed calendar for 2025–2026 includes an early finish date of June 5. This shift marks a departure from previous years, though officials have not yet detailed the reasons behind the change. The upcoming meeting on May 11 will bring together education authorities to assess and approve the final version of the calendar. Delgado’s remarks suggest the adjustments are already in advanced stages of planning.
