Moonrise Launches Instant Payments in Norway, Simplifying Real-Time Transactions

Moonrise by Lunar has launched instant payments in Norway, marking a significant step for financial services in the region. The move simplifies real-time transactions, which have long posed challenges for fintechs and payment providers. With this update, businesses can now send and receive Norwegian Krone (NOK) instantly through NICS Real.

Norway's real-time payment system has traditionally been difficult to access, especially for companies outside the country. Moonrise now offers a single API integration that connects to all three Nordic instant payment networks—Denmark, Sweden, and Norway—making it the only provider with this capability. This unified approach reduces complexity and speeds up onboarding for businesses.

The platform is tailored for electronic money institutions (EMIs), payment service providers (PSPs), and banks aiming to expand in the Nordics. Moonrise's solution includes local virtual accounts (vBBANs), ensuring a seamless domestic payment experience for customers. By February 2026, the company will also support real-time payments in five additional European markets: Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, and the UK.

This expansion strengthens Moonrise's role as a key banking partner for firms scaling payments across the Nordics. The infrastructure is designed to minimise dependencies while offering scalable, API-first access to instant payment rails.

The launch of instant payments in Norway confirms Moonrise's leadership in Nordic financial infrastructure. Businesses can now process NOK transactions in real time with fewer technical hurdles. The solution also paves the way for broader European expansion in the coming year.
