Neuwied invites residents to co-create its bold new urban future
Neuwied is launching a new urban development strategy to shape the city's future alongside its residents. The initiative builds on the 2018 plan but focuses on fresh challenges like climate protection, mobility, and housing. Officials are encouraging early and ongoing public involvement to gather ideas and feedback.
The project kicks off with the event NeuWie? Rethinking Your City of Tomorrow on March 26, 2023. It will take place at the David-Roentgen-Schule auditorium from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Alongside this, an online platform at www.ourwebsite/urban-development-strategy will let residents submit suggestions at any time.
To ensure broad participation, 14 neighbourhood workshops will be held across the city. Special sessions will also engage children and young people. Those contributing online will automatically enter a prize draw as an added incentive. The 2018 urban development strategy remains a key reference point for the new plan. However, the updated version will address evolving priorities, including climate action and sustainable housing. For questions, residents can contact Alessa Strubel via the city portal, by phone at 02631/802-731, or by emailing *[email protected]*.
The strategy aims to create a shared vision for Neuwied's growth through direct citizen input. Workshops, online tools, and public events will gather diverse perspectives. The final plan will reflect these contributions to guide the city's development in the coming years.
