New winter road breaks isolation for remote Siberian village of Aim
A new winter road has opened in northern Khabarovsk Krai, linking the remote village of Aim to vital supply routes. The 50-kilometre stretch provides a crucial connection during the harsh winter months when other transport options are scarce.
The road became operational under normal conditions and will stay open as long as weather allows. Its opening has already eased isolation for Aim's residents, enabling more reliable deliveries of goods and services.
The first shipment of essential supplies arrived from Ust-Maya in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) just before International Women's Day. Another two tons of cargo are set to travel along the route in the coming days. Despite the improvements, economic activity in Aim remains limited. The village's small population and remote location continue to restrict broader development.
The winter road now serves as a lifeline for Aim, ensuring supplies reach the community during the coldest months. Its operation will depend on weather conditions, but for now, it offers a steady link to the outside world.
