Nizhny Novgorod strengthens tech ties with Southeast Asia through landmark deal

Nizhny Novgorod has agreed to deepen ties with Southeast Asian nations through the Digital Economy and Cybersecurity Forum (DECF). The deal, signed with the international business alliance B2BASEAN, aims to boost cooperation in technology and trade. Officials expect the partnership to help local companies expand into new markets. The agreement was formalised by the conference organising committee and B2BASEAN. It outlines plans for joint projects in IT, digital transformation, and cybersecurity between Russia and ASEAN member states. The move follows rising interest from Asian businesses in the region.

The DECF, scheduled for May 18–21, 2026, in Nizhny Novgorod, will serve as a key platform for this collaboration. Organisers anticipate stronger participation from Southeast Asian firms at the event. The forum already promotes Russian technologies abroad and builds cross-border business links.

Authorities believe the partnership will simplify finding international partners and attract investment into tech projects. The expanded cooperation is expected to strengthen the region's global connections and economic reach. The deal builds on the DECF's existing role in fostering international business ties. Future editions of the forum will likely feature more Southeast Asian involvement. The agreement also sets the stage for long-term collaboration in digital innovation and cybersecurity.
